Brooke Sharkey’s most recent album found her listed by The Guardian as one of the top 50 independent artists in the world doing it their own way: a much-deserved accolade for a singer songwriter whom we first spotted busking in Colombia Road on flower market day and whose music has since been compared to the likes of Kate Bush, Ane Brun and Lhasa de Sela. Her unique, ethereal and distinctive vocals and lyrics in both English and French explore the vast, yet intricate topics of love, loss and beauty. Themes of hope and wonder weave seductively through nature-inspired melodies. Expect a special preview of some of the songs that she’s been recording in Oslo, Norway, the country in which she’s most recently been drawing inspiration for her next album, Under Stones, due for release next year. Brooke has headlined at the Jazz Café, played at Cambridge Folk Festival and won (ex aequo) the “Concert of the Year Award” at The Union Chapel in 2017. Joining her will be talented Norwegian singer songwriter Aksel Undset.

‘The sparse fragility of Sharkey’s music and her intimate delivery mean that it gives up its charms slowly, but very surely’ The Guardian

‘ ..one of the most amazing voices I’ve ever heard..’ BBC Radio 6 Music
