SANCTUM OF SOUND IS A MUSICAL FORUM FOR LISTENERS OF SACRED SOUND IN MAHALLA.Curated and produced by the MaHalla team every first sunday of the month Sanctum of Sound will transform MaHalla for 12 hours from 12pm to 12am into a sacred space that is worshipping the creation and transmission of music and sound.HANNES KRETZER12PM – 2PMHannes Kretzer presents an immersive ambient sound experience, utilizing a quadrophonic setup to immerse the audience in spatial layers of textured sound. The performance will feature new material alongside previously released compositions, weaving together the resonant tones of the Cristal Baschet—an instrument known for its haunting, otherworldly resonance—and the deep, immersive vibrations of custom-built gong resonator speakers. This rich and dynamic sonic environment blurs the line between the organic and the electronic, guiding listeners into a reflective and meditative state.TRILOKA2PM – 4PMTRILOKA offers an augmented sonic experience through the interaction of live acoustic and electronic instruments for meditative explorations, silent contemplation and the unfolding of the body-mind in the form of extended ambient sound journeys. The intercultural trio guides an immersive and introspective journey by combining the soothing melodies of the acoustic cello, the contemporary and psychedelic sound sculptures of the effected and processed electric guitar and the grounding frequencies of the gong and singing bowls. All of that while you comfortably sit or lay down, close your eyes, meditate, dream along or float away in the amazing space of MaHalla.THE FOUR4PM – 6PMFor each Sanctum of Sound, the music Ashram puts together a 4-piece formation of guest musicians and members of the Ashram.RAZ O’HARA & LIHLA6PM – 8PMRich and diverse in its sonic palette, Raz Ohara’s music shifts from soothing ambient textures, and harshly distorted synth peaks, to cinematic soundscapes interwoven with avant-garde contemporary classical and jazz music. His unique vocal style is imbued with a soulful and beautiful strangeness, an ability to convey deep lyrics of love, loss, introspection and exploration of emotional and spiritual themes.Classically trained cellist, composer and storyteller Lihla (Lih Qun Wong) combines a vast instrumental skillset of piano, cello, electronics and spoken word, to craft intensely immersive aural-hallucinatory worlds of intricately shifting landscapes. Classical instruments capture the meeting place between memory and longing, while explorational vocal and cello styles invoke and echo the ancient, the feminine, and the otherworldly. In their new collaboration, “An offering” dreamlike cinematic instrumental and electronic soundscapes take us through vast landscapes of reflection, dream state and memory. Storytelling and song guides us, as a link to our collective memory and a means to navigate inner landscapes. Setting the path for a poetic and deeply haunting journey through the internal psyche that is truly transportive and escapist.ANDROMEDA MEGA EXPRESS ORCHESTRA8PM – 10PMA self-organized, independent group of likeminded individuals, AMEO is unlike any other orchestra: It’s a steadily working ensemble with a steady focus on experimentation. It is comprised of in-demand musicians hailing from various countries and musical backgrounds.  Daniel Glatzel, the orchestra’s leader and saxophonist is also its main composer and producer.Widely celebrated for its explosive, intense live shows – surprisingly accessible and infectious despite the musical complexity – AMEO’s concerts are essentially colorful sonic adventure trips that cannot possibly be repeated or foreseen.PRIMEIRO10PM – 12AMPrimeiro is an experimental electronic artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. His music transcends conventional boundaries, delving into the realms of ambient, hand-made trance, and techno. While his work may initially evoke a sense of tranquility akin to artists like Hiroshi Yoshimura, a closer examination reveals intricate layers and meticulous arpegios. In 2023, he released his first album, “Music for Horses,” with the Berlin-based label Danzee. He organizes the Feed the River festival, expressing that rivers are living beings and like all beings they need to be nourished, inspired by the concept of Animism and the use of sound to foster meaningful transformative dialogues. As part of the group Lujo Asiático, he has released three vinyl albums then touring in Europe and Japan.
